During our last softball game of the season, my gray socks and I got caught caught in a rundown between third base and home plate! We were on second, and the batter got a base hit past the SS. We ran hard and tried to make it home, but we saw that the throw to the plate was dead on and we would be out if we continued. So we stopped short and headed back towards third!
Now I was a little worried that my gray socks wouldn't hold on to my feet as I headed back. Generally, we've played well together but this was really intense, and I wasn't sure my gray socks would be up for the challenge. Well turns out, they were! We ran back to third but then the other team threw to third before we got there, so we had to turn again and head back to home. Again, my gray socks held on tight and we continued this back and forth. Eventually, we were out at the plate. Although we didn't score, my gray socks and I learned that we were able to work together as a team in critical, intense moments. Afterward, we chatted and agreed that it was a tremendous learning experience for us both. I had to chuckle, because my gray socks had a bunch of dirt from the slide. But gray socks had a good sense of humor. Gray socks said that previous owner never took it out for softball games and instead, locked it in a closet. Bad owner. Anyway, more fun with gray socks today!
My friend Eric traveled here for the weekend and accidentally left his gray socks when he left. I have claimed them as my own! These are the adventures of Eric's socks!
